Superfast broadband and a growing software industry means Cornwall is the perfect place to base a startup.

Mark Wilson, a director of an online booking firm, gives a simple answer when asked why his firm, which employs 25 people, has been based in Cornwall since the year 2000.

“Look around! It’s a beautiful place to be, and the advent of e-commerce made locating here possible.”

Software Cornwall is a Not for Profit organisation and represents one of the fastest growing tech clusters in the UK. One of their members, Duesday a FinTech startup explain that although people are often surpirsed to hear they are based in Cornwall, they find that the talent pool is impressive as well as the choice of office space and fast broadband. Its crucial to them that their money goes as far as possible and the lower wages, rent and living mean the cost of running their business is much cheaper than if it was based in London or Bristol. Add to that a stress free commute and an enviable way of life and we agree its the perfect place for a startup!
