iFarm grows local salads

Salads without travelling

iFarm is a Finnish startup who believes that your food shouldn’t travel any further than you have to.

The startup has developed modular, automated greenhouses for the city environment, using innovative technology to grow natural salads, berries, and vegetables all year round. The fully automated indoor environment provides the ideal microclimate conditions for the plants to grow. They also offer a greens growing module that can be placed at retail chains and restaurants.

Meat and dairy alternatives have seen their sales grow by 25% in the last 3 months. Consumers are switching for a variety of concerns including animal wellfare, and also their inability to source quality meat and eggs during lockdown. Interestingly, 1 in 5 are planning to continue to buy meat alternatives once lockdown ends.

The global plant based meat market is estimated to be worth $3.6 billion this year, rising to $4.2 billion in 2021.
