Ynsect Startup

Ynsect, a Paris based agtech startup, has won E20 million from the EU to build the first automated insect-based protein plant.

Ynsect produce insect based protein for animal and fish feed and fertilizers. It will produce insects called Tenebrio Molitor on an industrial scale to meet the increasing global demand. Molitor is not only the insect species best suited to large scale farming, but their larvae also have 70% protein and are a natural source of nutrients for a wide range of animals. The mealworm consumes any organic matter - even low grade - and grow quickly. They also require less earth, less water and less space and give off less ammonia and fewer greenhouse gases than other animal protein sources. The production system is modelled on a circular economy - and has zero waste.
